Artistic Director.

We are a non-audition, no-profit, Amateur Community Choir, based in the Verde Valley in Central Arizona, U.S.A. We draw singers from the communities of that area. our season runs from August to May with 2 major performances (December and May) and several smaller group performances around the area. We rest from May until August. We have an active, working, Board of Directors.  Below are listed the qualifications and duties of this position. If this sounds like a fit for you, we invite you to apply. The position will start January 1, 2027. However, due to time needed to plan the Spring Sessions, payroll will begin November 1, 2026. Job Description VVV Chorus Director

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

• Determines concert themes and selects repertoire. Hires additional musical personnel as needed.
• Plans and leads weekly rehearsals (Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.) and additional rehearsals as needed.
  1. Singers’ Choice 2 weeks before concert
  2. Sectionals as needed
  3. Technical run-through rehearsal 1 week before concert, in performance space.
• Conducts all performances, including regular concerts (2 annually) and community outreach events.
• Places voices when necessary. Teaches vocal techniques and musicality.
• Creates practice recordings of the concert repertoire to enable choir members to learn music.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong choral conducting skills and choral technique knowledge
• Ability to inspire, foster inclusivity, and manage diverse personalities in a non-audition, volunteer setting
• At least three years of conducting experience with adult amateur choirs
• Communication skills that reflect the image and vision of the Verde Valley Voices

Timeline for Search

Submission of Resumes now through June 30th, 2026.

Interviews to be scheduled July through August, 2026.

Choir auditions to be scheduled in month of September, 2026, for top 3 candidates.

Selection Committee will meet in September to select final candidate.
 
Selection Committee to present candidate to the Board of Directors during Board meeting on October 6. Offer then extended to Candidate.

New Director announced to choir on October 13th.

New Director begins 2027 Spring Session planning November 1, 2026.
